Seven of us participated in the Dirty Santa Gift Exchange this year. It was great fun and this year there was no real gotcha gifts. The was an electric disc shooter, a quad copter, an uno kit, a intro to microcontroller kit, a Walgreens gift card, an Arch Reactor coffee mug, and a line following robot kit. Derek had to change the rules so, "he wouldn't get screwed over."

The team of people working on the Internet of Things Microscope have won a first round prize for their work!  They are now qualified for the final round that will be decided in October!

The team met up again this week and is trying to nail down design ideas for a nice travel case. It seems tricky to balance lightweight and ease of use with beautiful design elements. One idea is to put the pi and hat in a box under the microscope. The box could also hold the LED in place but it also adds weight and when one of your ideas is to make it lightweight for carrying out in to the field adding weight is not ideal but putting everything together in a nice package is ideal. Come next Thursday to see what happens or to add your great ideas.
