Post-pone our Open House / AR Olympics. Probably until March when it’s warmer. Date to be determined

Volunteer meeting last night. Good showing from Burners. Ok showing from AR.
Run down:
Date will be Sat. Jan 22 @ 7 pm. Volunteers show up at 4.
Will be at the Kerr Foundation Building 2101 O’fallon St.
Burners called fire. We get Ice for our theme.
Pre order tickets - $5
Door - $8.
No free passes since it’s a fundraiser. Everyone pays.
Donation bar. Chillie cook off. 15 or so people to volunteer for chillie cooking. Voting will be by donations. Highest donations wins. Need coffee cans.

It’s an 18 and over event. Burners will be manning the bar.
Need to supply a monetary upfront cost (we'll recoup). Bar will be about $400. Stand to make over $1000 on suggested donations. Will stock Schlafly kegs. $4 a pint of beer. 3$ for 12 oz of wine. Hot coco and coffee.

Need $200 in change for tickets, drinks, etc.
Sunday’s event will cover decorations.
Arch Reactor’s theme is Ice. Liquid nitrogen ice cream sounds awesome. Getting the liquid nitrogen might be tough. (do have access to a 4 gallon dewer). That’s enough for demos. Maybe dry ice instead. We just need it for show. Thought about ice sculptures. Shot luge off a block of ice. Better to make ice blocks or purchase?

Nate from Byteworks visited. Byteworks does a community program where they teach kids about computers, and if they do well they get to keep the computer. They want to do stuff with us. Rob will get in touch with them. The have a rotating group of instructors. The more instructors the less they have to do. Basically one night for six weeks. We should get involved as instructors. Also wants to bring by graduates to AR.

Gas -
Anybody who is willing, put their name on this list. We'll give the list to Keith and he'll turn on the gas. That cost will be divided among those volunteers and be added to dues. Shouldn't be expensive as long as heat is turns off when we are not here.

Fridge has been stocked. Awesome. More than just leftovers from the potluck. Keep it up.

Height of full membership is 28 members in June. Dropped about one or two per month. October we are at about 24 full members. July we had 15 supporting. October we are down to 6 supporting members.

Still hovering at the break even point. A few more members and we'll be comfortably over the limit.

We will have gas available. Need to setup an account. That would be an additional expense.

Recycling Bin is only for bottles and cans. Eventually we’ll add another for paper and cardboard.

Thanks for keeping the place clean, especially after the pot luck. Reminder we can't leave open food because we'll get mice. That goes for the garbage as well.

Need to pull window AC units out of the window. Perhaps put the plastic back up.

Old work material. Please finish your projects or get them out of the way.

Suggest swapping the materials shelf with the big shelf.

Suggested scheduling that with a recycling event. Laclede is having one this Sunday.

Website not being used as much as had hoped. Going to disable the user generated content features and limits it to the webmasters and the board. New theme, more simplified. Need a “Previous posts” link.

Taylor was voted in as our new director. Now known as Glorious International Relations Liason (GIRL).

Christmas party. Potluck went well. Would like to do it before Christmas. Secret Santa or some kind of gift exchange.

Ideas for other events:

*Mix drink potluck.
*Possible Christmas burlesque.
*Elf movie night.
*Fundraising hike in spring or a health drive.
*Build and donate ornament for Etsy store.

<br> Fundraiser - Stacy was working with the Gateway Burners. Date is set for Jan 22. Kerr Foundation building in the city. Theme is Fire and Ice. Chili cook off and ice cream. Silent auction. Voluteers needed to work the doors, the bar, donations to auction. Ongoing photo slideshow. Just going to be AR and the Gateway Burners. Banana Bike Brigade opted out. Profit will be divided evening between the groups by committee.

More outreach to the schools. Prepare actual presentations. Display board and photos. David works with a lot of school organizations and can help getting in contact.

Etsy store. Want to get it up and running. If you want to sell, let the PR director know.

Possible Arch Reactor field trip - Movie or something? Megamind?

Metal Casting - Ryan has his MakerBot functional. Seen a bunch online about forging and is very interested in it as a group project. Concerns about where to do it. Would prefer a propane burner. Concerns are spills in parking lot, etc. Ryan will take lead and put together a parts list.

Taylor likes soldering. Wants to do a giant blinky glowing Arch Reactor logo.

Darrell – Bill, the electrician that has been consulting on our conduit and electrical work, has offered to do two classes on conduit ending and pellet pistols (beyond airsoft) Schedule for sometime in November.

Chris wants to give a MySql class.

Bob wants to hold a Python/game programming class

Mitch Altman - was awesome. He's putting together an article about the hackerspaces he visited. He’s going to pass us his notes on other spaces of what he thought was good or bad about how we run the space. Made friends with Jimmy Rodgers and Matt Metts of Make Magezine. Made us an offer if we need something to be posted on Make, he will put it up there. Scheduling a class on conduit bending (while running our electrical)

Fridge Contents is extremely light. Don’t know if there is nothing in the donation box or it just hasn't been emptied. Everyone go pick up a case of something.

Plastic – Ryan is placing an order for plastic used in MakerBot printing. 1Lb of plastic is $20. A spool is between 45 and 60.

Every Sunday evening is scheduled for hardware hacking.

Daniel will be holding an HTML/CSS class on the 15th of this month.

Deech will plan a Costuming night.

Membership - Not enough is being done to increase membership. Partly a PR problem, partly an advertising problem. All our events are open to the public. Make sure it’s more widely known the events are open to the public. Widely. John will make and post a flyer to give out to public that doesn't visit the website. Ideas for increasing membership:

Electrical. Darrell has been trying to run the conduit and electrical boxes. Almost to the point of running wire and installing outlets. We'll then have to make a decision on the lights regarding where to be mounted and where to put switches.

Need ideas for replacing the miner lights.

Starting this first October Monday (11th), Art Reactor will resume work on the Evil Doctor Coats.
The second Tuesday (12th) is our Show and Tell night. Bring your projects, completed or WIP (or planning, even).
On Wednesdays the 13th and 20th, there will be a workshop on costume accessories, especially wigs.
The third Tuesday (19th) is a combination of our LAN Party and Board Game nights. It's sure to be massive, so be sure to show up!
There's also a potluck party in the space on the fourth Tuesday (26th). Bring your own dish and drinks to be mingled with those of your peers! This party, being a Tuesday event, is open to the public.
Our November events are great fun as well:
The second Tuesday of November (9th) is Harry Potter night, in celebration of the first movie of the seventh HP book.
The next day (Wed the 10th) and the following Wednesday (17th), are workshops on combat and utility corsets for your costume (or everyday use).
The 4th of November brings a class on SQL, the popular database programming language. The next Sunday (7th) is a Python programming class focusing on game development.
The last Tuesday of November (30th) is our LEGO competition. Use your own LEGOs in your own construction and bring it in for judging by popular opinion. You may not use predefined kit plans, although you may use kit sets in your own original construction.

Mitch Altman - August 20th is the date he will come and speak to us and show us how to put together kits he's designed. Haven't nailed down an exact time. Probably 6:00. It’s a Friday night. No charge for admission, but maybe donations for refreshments. Sign-up sheet will be setup and put on the forums. Need solder stations for the event so if you have some to loan, please do.

Pay dues. Paypal is working. We have the Square for credit cards. In July, we had 21 full members. We had 15 paid supporting. That is a little misleading as there are some supporting members that became full members so there is some overlap. In terms of monthly income we are breaking even. If we had a few more full members it would be nice so we can pull ahead.
Our net worth is a few hundred dollars in the bank.

From what we saw from other hackerspaces at Maker Fair, most charge around $80 to $90 a month. We are a bargain for a hackerspace.

We did a safety workshop a couple Tuesdays ago. Brought in some signs for rules and procedures that are posted. Space is a bit disorganized that and some shelving should help.

Really need to start cleaning up after ourselves. Last person should be taking out trash. Trash just has to be taken to the freight elevator and trash gets collected and moved down. If it’s piling up obviously we should go ahead and take it to the dumpster

“How to run the Roomba” instruction to be posted

Recommend we build some shelving. Two 24 inch deep shelves running the length of the Jefferson wall, under the windows, will suitable for our storage bins. Also suggest taller and deeper set on the outside shop wall and a couple of 48 inch square shelves for deeper items. Cost will be about $108 for the shop wall shelves, approx. $100 for the window wall, and around $272 for the total. Shelves should give us about 17 to 22 slots for member storage. Enough members donated money to proceed with the project.

Daniel wants to know who owns the PowerMac on the shelf. His father’s business runs on old mac software and need the additional hardware. Offering $75 for the G3 mac sitting on our shelf that would go to Arch Reactor. Nobody present has any issues with the arrangement.

Some of you probably saw on the forums about Paypal not accepting membership dues. We think we've gotten sorted out. We can send money directly, but we are uncertain if the automatic payment through the membership site works yet. Paypal account was set up as a non-profit, and there are some restrictions on that. Some of the requirements were missed but Keith has submitted the necessary documents that Paypal requires, but Paypal has yet to respond.

The first Adafruit order has been placed.

Reviewed new policies for the space and workshop. Not going to repeat everything. John R, Scuba, Chris, and Stephen have formed a committee to determine a safety training procedure. Stephen can't do it all by himself. As new members join, we'll have a general intro to the Arch Reactor space, general safety and courtesy stuff. Cover the rules we came up with a couple weeks ago

In the next week or two we'll come up with a curriculum. Then complex equipment training to follow. Each piece of equipment will have a class and a test out.

Complex isn't always dangerous, but is easy to break. At least 15 pieces at the moment considered complex equipment. It’s a daunting task for 4 people to manage all of it. Asking for volunteers adopt a piece of equipment they may have proficiency in and can handle a class, therefore taking some of the burden off of us.

Have been talking to the board about a fundraiser. Thinking late September, give us plenty of time and it will be nice and cool. Will be in cooperation with the Gateway Burners and the Banana Bike Brigade. Going to talk to the other organizations, form a committee made up of the 3 groups, schedule events, permits, etc... This is a fundraiser just for “Makers”. The money raised from this will be treated as a grant given to people who are building projects.

Ryan suggested the Etsy store. Requirement for the Etsy Store is everything would have to be handmade.

The Board’s status regarding our 501c3 is that it’s still in progress. Suggested perhaps we start with a 501c7 and work our way towards 501c3.

Asking for help with her position. Will pick a time to meet with volunteers and sort that out.

Some of you probably saw on the forums about Paypal not accepting membership dues. We think we've gotten sorted out. We can send money directly, but we are uncertain if the automatic payment through the membership site works yet. Paypal account was set up as a non-profit, and there are some restrictions on that. Some of the requirements were missed but Keith has submitted the necessary documents that Paypal requires, but Paypal has yet to respond.

The first Adafruit order has been placed.

Mitch Altman, founding member of Noisebridge in San Francisco and inventor of the TV-B-Gone, is doing a mid-west tour of hackerspaces. We are working to schedule his stop at Arch Reactor.

Next Tuesday will be a business meeting as we have to vote on a new webmaster.

Bob Castley, who created City Museum. Has a new project, Concrete Land. There are 3 industrial robots, all of the pieces but not working. Opportunity for those interested get us involved. Doing favors for Bob, would be doing favors for AR. Would require a commitment.

All things considered, pretty good shape.

AdaFruit order. Not quite to our $250 reseller level order yet. We get %40 off a $250 order. We will pass half that off to the membership. Thread on the forum/mailing list for orders that Keith will place.

Safety – as most noticed, the shop was closed. Safety is important, even though we make light of a lot around here. We have liability insurance just in case; however we don't want to use it. If someone were to seriously hurt themselves, it could shut down the space and we'd be done. Not to mention we don't want to lose life or limb. To that end the officers sat down and discussed what we could do to get a handle on that issue. Stephen will provide a presentation of general rules and guidelines to follow. If you don't know how to use a tool ask for help. We are a smart group, and we usually think we can learn things on the fly. This is usually true. Mistakes can be fatal when it comes to our tools though. After the basic training the shop will be open and we'll be

Stephen: I'm not around a whole lot, and part of that reason is the bulk of my free time goes to training and racing during this season. However I take this position very seriously and have spent a lot of time on our equipment policies, even as far back as in the winter. I expected to get it done in the off season, however with the space move things got put behind schedule. Every minute I spend on AR has been for the Sergeant at Arms position exclusively. I apologize for my directness and bossiness when I appear to come in and simply bark rules. I'm simply trying to communicate my ideas as fast as I can.

I am going to offload some of my responsibilities regarding training for classes to other members with actual shop experience.

There are many common courtesy policies, such as trash that we all need to help as a team to keep this public space functioning and useable.

I did a lot of research and have come up with some guidelines.

Stephen proceeded to review several documents regarding space policy and safety. All of which are available on the wiki under [[ Rules And Policies ]].

If you see someone doing something unsafe and you know better, they probably just don't know. Let them know and give them that knowledge. That will take care of the problem right away.

Do not prop the downstairs door open.

Equipment: All the equipment that has been registered through Stephen is on the list and will be covered by our insurance. If It’s not on the list then it’s not covered by the space insurance. Fill out the equipment form.

Expecting to do a safety class for complex equipment on Friday nights.

Equipment waiver possibly be available for those who can prove their competence on a specific piece of equipment.

Plan to repeat the safety class once a month modifying the Tuesday schedule.

There were less people that showed up, but they stuck around a lot longer. We can discuss what needs to be done for our next event. We should probably plan something late august next.

Next time possibly a PA system? Yeah, but the problem more was this place is still pretty echo-ie. Eventually we'd like curtains to segment off the sitting area to dampened the sound for presentations.

What we've noticed is when we get things done, someone stands up and says “Let’s do this” and several people join him or her in support. This is much more productive than attitude than “AR should do this” which means “YOU should do this so I can play with it”. How can we make coalitions easier to form? Submit ideas on the forum. That’s how the paint happened, and the carpet.

Our application for a booth at the Detroit Maker Faire was accepted. A group of us are already planning on going. We get a few free admissions, not sure of the exact number.

The name of the organization shall be Arch Reactor. It shall be a 501c3 nonprofit organization incorporated under the laws of the state of Missouri.

===Section 2 - Purpose===
Arch Reactor is organized for the purpose of providing a space in St. Louis for artistic, technical, and educational pursuits.

The purpose of this corporation is:
* to provide a location and tools for people to pursue projects;
* to facilitate the productive exchange of ideas; and
* to engage in community outreach.

==Article 2 - MEMBERSHIP==

===Section 1 - Types of membership===
There shall be three classes of membership; full member, supporting member, and community member. Only human persons may apply for or be considered a full member, supporting member, or community member.

===Section 2 - Definition of full membership===

====Sub-Section 1 - Eligibility====
All founders shall be considered immediately eligible for full
membership. A founding member shall be defined as any person who
attended a meeting and pays the full membership dues before the
designated cut-off date. Once space has been secured, the board will
declare a cut-off date or "Grand Opening". For a person to become a
full member after the cut-off date, they a)must be a supporting member
for at least six months and gain a full member to nominate them for
full membership. Or b)may be a supporting member for less then 6
months, but must have three supporting members to nominate them for

vote of the other full members, where a simple majority full members at
the next membership meeting is required to pass.

====Sub-Section 2 - Privileges====
Full members enjoy the following privileges:
* Twenty-four hour access to all areas of the space;
* Eligibility to vote on the confirmation of new full members;
* Eligibility to downgrade their membership at any time; and
* All privileges enjoyed by supporting members.
* A full member may downgrade their membership to supporting member or cancel their membership at any time, while retaining the right to become a full member again at any time without the six month wait or vote from the other full members.
* Full Members have the privilege to use the space for functions (parties, meetings, presentations, etc.), provided that:
** The full member planning the function is responsible for all clean-up and any damage that may occur. If damage is assessed, Membership privileges for the responsible full member can be suspended by a simple majority vote of the board until reparations determined by the board have been made.
** The full member cannot prohibit any other full member from attending the function. Except where the event involves alcoholic beverages, therefore no members under 21 will be allowed to attend without a parent or guardian present.
** The full member notifies the board of his/her intentions and date of function at least 14 days in advance.
** Priority will be granted on first come/first serve basis.

====Sub-Section 3 - Responsibilities====
Full members must fulfill the following responsibilities:
* A full member must pay the monthly fee for full members as voted on by the supporting and full members;
* All responsibilities imposed on supporting members except the supporting member fee; and
* When a full member's eligibility expires he or she must forfeit their access to the space and all property of Arch Reactor to the Sargent at Arms.

* A supporting member must contribute to the community regularly;
* A supporting member must volunteer regularly at public events put on by Arch Reactor; and
* When a supporting member's eligibility has expired or they wish to resign, they must forfeit their access to the space and all property of Arch Reactor to the Sargent at Arms;

===Section 4 - Definition of community membership===
A community member is any person who expresses in writing a wish to become a member to the Secretary.

===Section 5 - Fees and other obligations===
====Subsection 1 - Setting and Collecting Fees====
Fees for full and supporting members shall be set by a vote of the supporting and full members at the yearly meeting by a simple majority. The full and supporting members may also choose to set a fixed monetary value for work performed for Arch Reactor, and to define tasks and duties which qualify. Work performed under those headings can be used to offset member fees. Requests to offset member fees with work can be made in private to the board, with arraignments to be kept private. Even if a member performs enough work, they will never be reimbursed beyond the waiving of their membership fee. Fees and other obligations and responsibilities can be waived or reduced for a member by majority vote of the officers at the member's time of joining.
====Subsection 2 - Household Fees====
The household fees will apply if a group of members meets the definition of a household. A household will be defined as a)more that one person living in the same house, apartment or home or b)a couple or family in a declared relationship, despite place of residence. The household rate will be charged as follows: The first person will pay the full membership rate, with each additional person paying the supporting membership rate, up to a maximum of 5. Each person in the household will gain the same rights as and be considered a full member (following full membership rules), however only one key will be issued. If a persons circumstances change and either A or B no longer applies, that person will no longer be considered a part of the household and will be required to pay regular dues for their selected level. If they had previously gained full membership, they may continue as full members by paying the full membership dues, starting the first of the month following their exit of the household. Alternately, they may elect to continue to pay supporting membership rates, but their access and rights will be reverted back to that of a supporting member and no additional key will be issued. In all cases, each member will start at supporting member status until that person meets the requirements for full membership.

===Section 6 - Resignation and termination===
Any member may resign their membership at any time by submitting a notice to the Secretary and fulfilling the responsibilities outlined in the definition of their membership level. A member may be terminated by a majority vote of the board of directors.

===Section 2 - Annual meetings===
A meeting shall be held once a year during the month of January to elect officers, receive reports on the activities of Arch Reactor over the past year, and vote on the direction of Arch Reactor for the coming year. Reports will be given by the President and Treasurer regarding the state of the corporation. Any issues which members wish to have discussed and voted upon at the meeting must be submitted in writing to the Secretary no less then forty-eight hours before the meeting.

===Section 3 - Special meetings===
Pursuant to section 355.236 of the Revised Missouri Statutes, a special meeting shall be called by any one of the officers, or by no less then five percent of the full or supporting members or five full or supporting members, which ever is less. Notice for this meeting shall follow the same format as regular and annual meetings, with the addition that the reason for calling the special meeting shall be attached to the notice.

===Section 4 - Quorum===
At least half of full members and any supporting members present at a regular or annual meeting shall constitute a quorum.

===Section 5 - Voting===
All non-election issues to be voted on during a meeting shall be passed by a simple majority of members present who have voting rights on the given issue. If there is more then one option being considered for a given issue, then runoff votes will be held until a majority is reached. Any full or supporting member who is not considered delinquent in their responsibilities by the Treasurer or Secretary.

===Section 6 - Proxy Voting===
Pursuant to Section 355.291 of the Revised Missouri Statutes, any full or supporting member may vote by proxy by either submitting votes for issues on the agenda in writing to the President, Vice President, or Secretary; or by appointing another full or supporting member as their proxy, an appointment must be made in writing to either the President, Vice President, or Secretary.

===Section 7 - Notice===
Pursuant to section 355.241 of the Revised Missouri Statutes, notice shall be posted for all meetings at least fourteen days prior to the date on which the meeting is scheduled. The notice shall be posted on all electronic forms of communication employed by the corporation, as well as being posted prominently in any spaces occupied by the corporation.

The role of the board shall be to oversee the day to day operation of Arch Reactor, organize committees and directors, and run the annual and regular meetings of members. The board shall have the power to speak, and appoint a representative to speak, on behalf of the organization to all external bodies and persons.

===Section 2 - Terms===
Officers shall serve a maximum of two consecutive one year terms as an officer. Directors may serve an unlimited number of terms.

===Section 3 - Board size===
The size of the board shall consist of the defined officers, plus a number of directors defined by the members.

===Section 4 - Meetings===
The board shall meet once a month at a time determined by the board. Board meetings shall be open to the public, though no one but members will have speaking privileges without prior approval from the Secretary.

===Section 5 - Elections===
Nominations for officers and directors shall be open for no less then fourteen days prior to elections. Nominations can be made to the Secretary by any full or supporting member. Officers shall be elected or re-elected at the annual meeting by a simple majority of all current full and supporting members. Directors shall be elected at the annual meeting by a simple majority. Directors shall be re-elected at the annual meeting by a majority defined by the function 100-50/t where t is the number of terms starting they have served. The process for director elections is as follows:
* A poll is held to determine if the current director is to be re-elected, this is a simple poll to either re-elect or remove.
* If the director is re-elected then the process is over.
* If the director is not re-elected, then nominations are taken and a new director is elected.
* A director who is not re-elected may run for election again if there are no other nominees for the director position.

===Section 6 - Eligibility===
Any full member is eligible to serve on the board or in any officer position.

===Section 7 - Compensation===
No officer or director will be compensated for their service to Arch Reactor, insurance may be provided to cover activity related to their duties to Arch Reactor.

The treasurer shall keep the financial information available to members with minimal notice, the only exception is that reduced dues may be kept anonymous at the request of the member

====Sub-Section 4 - Sargent at Arms====
The Sargent at Arms shall be responsible for providing and recalling access to the spaces when required, as well as the general security of Arch Reactor property.

===Section 9 - Directors===
There shall be as many directors as the members decide are necessary, the directors shall be tasked with specific areas of responsibility and will be given the authority to fulfill those responsibilities.

===Section 10 - Vacancies===
When a vacancy exists on the board mid-term, elections shall be held at the next regular meeting.

===Section 11 - Resignation and termination===
Any member of the board may resign at any time by submitting a resignation in writing to the Secretary, President, or Vice President. A member of the board may be terminated by a three-fourths vote of the board, or a simple majority of the full and supporting members.

Any board member, officer or director has the right to change their
title for the duration of their term. Once a new title has been

No names are going to named but some spray painting was done on John's, our landlord, patio upstairs. John was very upset and we almost lost our privileges to use the upstairs patio. If you need to paint something, do it on the tar roof at the very top with a drop cloth put down.

Space cleanup – Tools need to be unpacked from the move and organized on the peg board. Need to finish hanging the Tyvek to cover the exposed walls. Need to unpack and organize everything else from the move. Place computer equipment in the southwest corner. Raw Materials in the southwest corner of the workshop. Electronic tools near on the shelves near the computer equipment. Food items in the kitchen area. Construction tools should be on the peg board. Sewing materials in the northwest sewing corner.

Soon a monthly workshop training course will be starting. One tool from the workshop will be covered in each class. In the meantime the current rule applies, if you don't know how to use a tool, find someone that does.

Effective immediately, all ongoing projects must be kept in a personal project bin. Project bins are to be no bigger than 2 x 2 x 3. If additional space is needed for a project, it can be requested from the “Space Ace”

Darrell has reserved a panel spot at Archon for Arch Reactor to discuss hackerspaces in general. Looking for volunteers to attend and present.

Stacy asked us to go through our available channels to promote for the open house. Only remaining postings are Reddit and St Louis Post-Dispatch. Daniel will post our event on Reddit. Still need to submit to the Post-Dispatch.

We also need to schedule classes. We need people to teach those classes. Contact Bob, our Director of Education, to schedule classes or if you want to teach a class. Even if you want to teach evryone as you are learning something yourself.

President feels the waiting period to be eligible for full membership is dissuading people from joining. The main reason we decided to have a tiered membership was one of security. We can offset these concerns with the use of technology.

The way the bylaws are currently written are fairly detailed and confusing. The end result however simply distinguishes who has a key to the space and who does not.

Though our initial tiered structure may seem a bit off putting and exclusive, a visit to other hackerspaces shows that we are one of the most inclusive groups around. Most other groups have a higher membership cost and a stricter vetting procedure.

It is suggested that since any supporting member can gain full membership and a majority vote, that perhaps we should schedule regular monthly voting to reduce the wait for a supporting member.

We must decide if we want to have an elite membership, or do we want a reduced membership.

Perhaps to keep the space accessible to supporting members, we have a schedule where key carrying members will open up for supporting membership.

Also suggested an alternate time frame to vet member based on the number of meetings they attend instead of the 6 month period.

Generally speaking the group does not think the current plan is all that bad. Isn't an ideal situation, but the restrictions are understandable.

It is decided that the membership terms will be tweaked to make them a bit more palatable. The Board will discuss this in further detail and bring it back to the group.

Last week the current carpet was decided to be unusable. Steve and Joe B have found some quality industrial carpet for cheap, at about $4 a sq yd. This will make the floors more comfortable to stand around and reduce the echo in the space. We require approximately $600 to carpet the portions of the class room area, the social area, and part of the work are. So we can hold onto our current funds for the payment of rent, donations are being asked for from the group. If you would like to donate towards the carpeting, speak with the Treasurer. If we come up short, the alternative plan is to carpet only half of the planned area.

Discussion on whether to rent the upstairs roof for the open house. Though it's a great selling point, we don't really have the money to throw at it. Possibly just hold a party upstairs at a later with the funds from the open house.

It was suggested that we hold a combined event involving the Gateway Burners and the Banana Bike Brigade to offset the costs for the party upstairs. We would need to contact the Burners and the BBB to see if they were interested. A downside would be that this could pull attention away from us, as we would have to share the spotlight with the other groups.

The discussion was put to a vote: Hold separate Arch Reactor only event for the open house, with the understanding we will work to have a combined event in the near future. Or hold a larger event combining the group with BBB and Gateway Burners, minding that we haven't even approached the other groups yet.

Simple majority votes for a separate Arch Reactor only event.

Regular Saturday work days begin again. Steve needs to pick a date for painting. Joe B says he can get us some replacement carpet on the cheap. About $4 a square yard. President asked that he get a quote to cover the place.

Puppet stage – Great idea for whomever wants to work on it. Jump on the board and talk about planning.

We can mitigate that problem with technology, such as access control, video feeds, etc. Maybe its a possibility to allow people to jump in as a full member, but have a one or two month waiting period for the key. We should have this implemented.

How can we pick up our momentum again? A few supporting members have dropped off. Attendance as steadied but there are not as many new faces. Review the list of stuff on February 2, 2010 meeting minutes and talk about on the board for what you want to do.

Open house house is scheduled for June 19.

Should we have a roof party? Some are willing to chip in. The board will need to check with the owner to see about what kind of deal we can strike.

A challenge to everyone to bring as many friends as you can.

Need to devise project presentation schedule.

Lets table a detailed discussion on the open house until next week when our PR director is present.

Two major things for next week: How to get more folks in and build anticipation for the space. Planning the open house.

We need to get invites for the open house out early.

There have been some complaints. Discussion over the mailing-list and forums. Complaints over the excess quoted text by e-mail clients. It will probably be a ongoing debate. The President feels this is the best compromise we have, when it comes to mailing-list versus forums. We are asking to please be considerate and delete the excess quotes. Do not reply and change the subject, thats what actually keys the forum, and it creates a new thread.

Derek still wants our website to reflect our projects. We would like some way for people to access and post projects. Use a blog format or Slashdots slashcode project.

Includes fire extinguisher, work bench, gloves, garbage can, mask. Does not include conduit, or wall in the workshop. Wall in the workshop is needed for soundproofing and needs to be done before the open house. Drywall and painting are priorities. Whiteboard paint would be prohibitily expensive. Some whiteboard. Drywall on the exposed walls are required by lease. Power outlets are a priority as well. Need conduit for the cable. Need to ask about our breaker box.
