Revision as of 17:43, 8 September 2010
Commenced at 8:07
- Party Talk
- Webmaster Election
Some of you probably saw on the forums about Paypal not accepting membership dues. We think we've gotten sorted out. We can send money directly, but we are uncertain if the automatic payment through the membership site works yet. Paypal account was set up as a non-profit, and there are some restrictions on that. Some of the requirements were missed but Keith has submitted the necessary documents that Paypal requires, but Paypal has yet to respond.
The first Adafruit order has been placed.
Sergeant at Arms
Keys are available. See the Sergeant.
Reviewed new policies for the space and workshop. Not going to repeat everything. John R, Scuba, Chris, and Stephen have formed a committee to determine a safety training procedure. Stephen can't do it all by himself. As new members join, we'll have a general intro to the Arch Reactor space, general safety and courtesy stuff. Cover the rules we came up with a couple weeks ago
In the next week or two we'll come up with a curriculum. Then complex equipment training to follow. Each piece of equipment will have a class and a test out.
Complex isn't always dangerous, but is easy to break. At least 15 pieces at the moment considered complex equipment. It’s a daunting task for 4 people to manage all of it. Asking for volunteers adopt a piece of equipment they may have proficiency in and can handle a class, therefore taking some of the burden off of us.
PR and Fundraising
Have been talking to the board about a fundraiser. Thinking late September, give us plenty of time and it will be nice and cool. Will be in cooperation with the Gateway Burners and the Banana Bike Brigade. Going to talk to the other organizations, form a committee made up of the 3 groups, schedule events, permits, etc... This is a fundraiser just for “Makers”. The money raised from this will be treated as a grant given to people who are building projects.
Ryan suggested the Etsy store. Requirement for the Etsy Store is everything would have to be handmade.
The Board’s status regarding our 501c3 is that it’s still in progress. Suggested perhaps we start with a 501c7 and work our way towards 501c3.
Asking for help with her position. Will pick a time to meet with volunteers and sort that out.
July 16th is our member’s party. On the menu will be Italian beef. Veggie burgers. Slurm. Need to know what kind of candy people like to put in the piñata. Or what people are allergic too. Bring side dishes.
Note to ask John about our members only event and use of the roof.
Each nominee have 5 minutes to state their qualifications.
Scuba – I don't have the internet at home. My laptop is about 11 years old. I can download music and I'm pretty good at windows 98.
What are your views on net neutrality? Internet is for porn. Should you pay for porn? No.
Keith – Gave his platform in interpreted dance.
Daniel – Has some experience working other websites, including ours. Would definitely welcome any help or assistance. Also believes the internet is also pro-free porn.
We meet quarum. Vote is taken.
Bookshelf is in disarray, who should manage it? John R quickly voted in as the arch reactor librarian.
Blocking the glaring sunlight: Suggestions are $3 bedsheets at walmart for our curtains. Mylar - $5 a sheet. Paper shades - $7.
Deech: Decided our business meetings scaled back to first Tuesdays of the month. Other 3 meetings will be something else. Next week, Show and Tell. Bring toys. Other options are Movie nights. Gaming night.
This month’s schedule as follows: 1st tues – business 2nd tues – show and tell 3rd tues – Workshop Safety 4th tues – Movie Night
Meeting adjourned at 8:52 with a round of introductions. Favorite board games.
