About Skills
On the AR wiki, a user who is listed as skilled in subject X is both able and willing to teach others that skill.
To find a particular skill, go to Category:Skills and drill down through the categories until you find the one you're looking for.
Adding Yourself to a Skill List
Skill lists are just ordinary MediaWiki categories, so adding yourself to a skill list is the same as adding any other page to any other category. Simply add this code to your user page, filling in the blanks:
[[Category:XYZ Skill]] Where XYZ is the name of the skill. Some fully functional examples: [[Category:JavaScript Skill]] [[Category:HTML Skill]] [[Category:Microcontrollers Skill]] Some fully incorrect examples: [[Category:JavaScript]] [[Categories:HTML Skill, CSS Skill]]
Creating a Skill List
Important Note: I'm still hammering this system out, adding features and coding a template set to make future edits easier. Please don't modify anything just yet. --Audacitor(t|c) 03:33, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
Since skill lists are just categories and categories are created the same as any other wiki page, you simply visit the URL of the page. Hooray for the transitive property of equality! Example:
To create the Foobarbazqux Skill, point your browser at: http://archreactor.org/wiki/index.php/Category:Foobarbazqux Skill
It must be noted that for each and every skill list, there is a corresponding interest list. Like skill lists, interest lists are just categories as well, so to make the Foobarbazqux interest list, go to:
http://archreactor.org/wiki/index.php/Category:Foobarbazwux Interest
