Officer reports

President

Everything said last week still stands. How can we pick up our momentum again? A few supporting members have dropped off. Attendance as steadied but there are not as many new faces. Review the list of stuff on February 2, 2010 meeting minutes and talk about on the board for what you want to do.

Open house house is scheduled for June 19.

Should we have a roof party? Some are willing to chip in. The board will need to check with the owner to see about what kind of deal we can strike.

A challenge to everyone to bring as many friends as you can.

Need to devise project presentation schedule.

Lets table a detailed discussion on the open house until next week when our PR director is present.

Two major things for next week: How to get more folks in and build anticipation for the space. Planning the open house.

We need to get invites for the open house out early.

How about an Ambassador for other hackerspaces? Would contact and work with hackers elsewhere. Bob volunteered for the position. Who's willing to put up a few hackers on their couch for the open house?

not present. Last week we voted in some new rules. New dues policy. Need accurate budgeting. Currently we are not making rent because of our slowdown and drop. Keith sends out reminder email at the end of the month. Will have the Square soon for taking credit cards as payment. Discussed possibly setting up a discounted rate for paying 6 months in advance.

Sargent at Arms

Keys for the space are available. Talked to State Farm about getting insurance. $355 a year for a $1 million insurance liability, $2 million aggregate with a $500 deductible. Thats estimating $10,000 of contents in our space. Insurance is required by our lease.

Director Reports

Webmaster

There have been some complaints. Discussion over the mailing-list and forums. Complaints over the excess quoted text by e-mail clients. It will probably be a ongoing debate. The President feels this is the best compromise we have, when it comes to mailing-list versus forums. We are asking to please be considerate and delete the excess quotes. Do not reply and change the subject, thats what actually keys the forum, and it creates a new thread.

Derek still wants our website to reflect our projects. We would like some way for people to access and post projects. Use a blog format or Slashdots slashcode project.

Space Design

Started an appropriations request for things we need. Includes fire extinguisher, work bench, gloves, garbage can, mask. Does not include conduit, or wall in the workshop. Wall in the workshop is needed for soundproofing and needs to be done before the open house. Drywall and painting are priorities. Whiteboard paint would be prohibitily expensive. Some whiteboard. Drywall on the exposed walls are required by lease. Power outlets are a priority as well. Need conduit for the cable. Need to ask about our breaker box.

Upcoming classes: Ham radio study session. Programming class. Will Derek be ready for another Arduino class? Maybe just open it up as arduino night. A one off photography class is being discussed. Derek also wants to hold a 555 timer class. Basic soldering and electronics.

Art club puppet show: Video games as puppet shows. Side-Scrolling backgrounds. Handful of people working the backgrounds and puppets.

Other Discussions

Additional lighting is being donated. A donated fridge is down stairs waiting to be brought up. The stinky fridge left here needs to be removed.

Darrell has a steamer we can barrow to clean the carpet.

Testing the effectiveness of cleaning the carpet tiles with a power washer at the car wash.

Perhaps a MAME/video game presentation for the open house. Create a second MAME machine specifically for the open house to play on the projector.

Ideas for some kind of open/close switch. Suggested web cam snaps, a visible light, tweet, Open/Close sign on the website.
